Cesar Koirala

I'm the CEO and founder of HumanLens.ai, an AI governance startup which was selected for NEC X's Elev X! Ignite accelerator. It gives regulated enterprises a "pre-flight check" for AI systems before deployment, turning responsible-AI compliance from a manual, spreadsheet-driven process into a seamless part of the development workflow.

I have experience mitigating real-world AI risk at enterprise scale, having served as Director of Responsible AI at UnitedHealth Group, where I worked on issues ranging from bias in healthcare models to ethical concerns in enterprise-wide systems. Earlier in my career I led data science and machine learning teams at Liberty Mutual Insurance, and built NLP tools in the EdTech space, giving me more than 15 years across the intersection of technology and business.

My technical grounding is in computational linguistics and NLP: my published research covers grammatical inference, symbolic planning and control using game theory, and feature-based statistical language modeling, with work appearing at venues including SIGMORPHON and ICMLA and in the journal Engineering Applications of Artificial Intelligence. Alongside building HumanLens, I teach the ethics and application of AI at NYU and Columbia, and host "Humanizing AI," a podcast demystifying AI and AI risk.
