Shashi Raj Pandey

I develop communication-efficient algorithms and low-complexity methods for training and inference of reliable and trustworthy AI/ML models over heterogeneous networks, considering intermittent connectivity, system-level heterogeneity, data quality, and data privacy — in the realm of beyond 6G and towards quantum applications. I currently serve as Assistant Professor in the Connectivity Section, Department of Electronic Systems, at Aalborg University, Denmark, and have led the AI/ML and Communications Research Subgroup since 2024. I was previously a Postdoctoral Researcher at the same institution (2021–2023) and a Visiting Researcher at the University of Oslo, Norway (October 2025).

My work includes serving as Principal Investigator on the AAU Career Grant ("Valid statistical methods for reliable inference") and the DFF NETML project ("NETworks for reliable Machine Learning"), and as a team member on projects including DNRF CLASSIQUE, HORIZON-JU-SNS-2023 "6G-XCEL," and "6G-GOALS."

I hold a Ph.D. in Computer Science and Engineering from Kyung Hee University, South Korea (thesis: "Federated Learning over Wireless Networks: Incentive Design and Game-theoretic Analysis," Best PhD Thesis nominee), and a B.E. in Electrical and Electronics Engineering from Kathmandu University, Nepal. I have published more than 75 peer-reviewed papers with 3,140 citations and hold two patents.
